OVER the past ten years or so, we in New Zealand have become accustomed to seeing most of the twin-engined executive types of most of the major overseas manufacturers. Now we have here a new executive aircraft from a hitherto unknown manufacturer, the Ted Smith and Associates Aerostar.
THE fatal mid-air collision in the United Kingdom last year in which a low flying RAF Phantom slammed into a light aircraft, killing its New Zealand pilot, brought home to aviators in this country an already seriously mounting problem here — that of low level airspace confliction.
IN April of last year, Auckland pilot Myles Robertson left Auckland for a flying tour of the United States in his vintage Fox Moth ZK-ASP — the only one of its type still flying in New Zealand. He returned to this country recently and in this article, written especially for WINGS, he recounts some of his experiences flying in the US.
