March 1977
1976 was a year of economic unrest; of change and innovation; a year when the survival of a third level airline should have hung in the balance. Instead, the Wellington-based Capital Air Services left behind its origins and expanded into an airline that, while not devoid of growing pains, shows the promise of success that has eluded many other third levels in New Zealand so far.
WHEN Ron Davis-Goff and his brothers Lionel and Ian bought the engineless little aeroplane it was well on its way to extinction. Damaged in a taxying accident, it had been stored away in a damaged condition at the back of a hangar to gather dust and slowly deteriorate.
